WHO THE PROGRAM ADDRESSES
The open call is addressed to music theorists, analysts, researchers, composers, performers, educators, and practitioner-scholars interested in examining the philosophical premises and consequences of theoretical work. Relevant practices may be analytical, historical, computational, cognitive, pedagogical, critical, practice-based, interdisciplinary, or situated across multiple methods and media. This range is indicative rather than exhaustive.
Applications are welcome from institutionally affiliated and independent researchers at different career stages, provided that their proposals demonstrate sustained engagement with music theory and a clear question for collective inquiry.
Projects may begin from a specific analytical study, a developing concept, a theoretical model, a corpus or archive, a listening practice, a pedagogical problem, a technological system, an institutional question, or a broader research trajectory. Participants should be prepared to present work in progress, engage closely with the work of others, revise their positions in response to discussion, and contribute actively to a collective research environment.
The programme does not require participants to arrive with a complete philosophy of music theory. Its purpose is to establish conditions under which philosophical positions can be articulated, tested, differentiated, and developed through theoretical practice. Intellectual curiosity, methodological self-reflection, critical openness, and a commitment to sustained exchange are therefore as important as the current state or institutional location of any individual project.
